What to Avoid While Pregnant

Being pregnant is an amazing gift that not all women get. It is very important to take care of yourself so you can take care of your baby. You must keep in mine that the things you do can affect the tiny person growing inside of you. It is important to know what you should avoid to keep you and baby strong and healthy.

Do not eat...

  • raw meat (including deli meat)
  • fish that contain mercury
  • raw shellfish
  • smoked seafood
  • raw eggs
  • soft cheese
  • unpasteurized milk
  • unwashed vegetables
  • a lot of hot dogs

Do not...

  • smoke
  • drink
  • do drugs
  • change the cat litter
  • lift heavy things
  • take over the counter drugs (unless prescribed by your doctor)
  • get an x-ray
  • stand in front of a microwave
  • use an electric blanket
  • take long hot baths or use a hot tub

Avoid...

  • too much caffeine
  • smokers
  • chemicals
  • roller coasters
  • contact with reptiles
  • too much junk food
  • stress
  • gaining more weight than necessary
  • fumes from things like paint and cleaning products
  • raising your body temperature

This may seem like a lot to follow and some of them may seem silly but following the above lists will help you take care of yourself for your baby.
