Book or E-reader

Everyday there seems to be something new or more advanced. Everything is more flashy and high tech. One popular thing that has caught my attention is not the PlayStation 3 with blue ray or the Ipad. It's the E-reader. Books are now being placed on electronic devices instead of being printed on paper. There are a lot of mixed reviews on these E-books. Can they really replace the traditional book?

Pros

The E-reader is very lightweight and thin. This makes carrying it easy. For people who like to read large books this can be helpful and definitely more preferable than those extra five pounds.

It can not only save space in your bag but in your house as well. Bookshelves can take up a bit of room, especially if you have a collection. With an e-reader all of your books are in one spot.

As soon as you want to read it you can. It takes only a second to pull up whatever book you would like to read.

The E- reader itself is a little pricey but in the long run it is a money saver. Buying book after book can be expensive and e-books are way cheaper.

It saves trees. If everyone switched to e-readers, it could save so many trees from being cut down every year to make books.

Cons

E-readers can cost a bit of money. For those who rent books from the library more than they buy them this can be a bit of a waste of money.

Books can be thrown across the room and you can still read them later. If you damage your e-reader you have to get it repaired or replaced which will only lead to spending more money.

Maybe it's just me but I like books. They have a weird scent and they look great rather they are brand new or antiques. E-readers aren't anything interesting to look at.

If everyone switched to e-readers many people would loose their jobs because there would be no need for people to make books or run libraries.

An e-reader can die on you in the middle of the story. A book doesn't need batteries or a charger.

I for one spend a lot of time on the computer researching and such. I rather read my books from the actual book. I do believe that one day the library will have the capability for you to "borrow" a book from them on an ereader. But I would still choose an actual book.
