Birth Options

Home
Women want to be comfortable when they are about to give birth. You are the most comfortable in your house. Most home births require midwifes unless you happen to find a doctor that will come to your home. Midwives are doctors though. They can bring your baby into this world without medicine and fancy equipment. Going the natural way often leads to a shorter delivery since the pain killers they give mothers usually slow down the process.
Birth Center
Some women prefer these to regular hospitals. Birth centers are ran by midwifes who want to help you have your baby the natural way. Of course, medication can be used if necessary. In these centers you can make decisions and have more say so. They care about your needs as much as they do about your babies.
Types of Deliveries
Vaginal Birth
This is the way women have been giving birth for centuries. The baby naturally tries to exit that way. Women usually don't have to stay in the hospital as long when they give birth this way. It is also easier for them to breastfeed. The vagina is meant to stretch so even after the baby comes out everything will go back to normal and there is medicine the doctor will subscribe for the pain.
Cesarean Section
Also known as C-section. This is when the women is given a small incision and the skin is stretched enough to pull the baby out. This takes a longer time to recover and can be more painful than a vaginal birth but everybody experiences pain differently. C-sections are usually only preformed when a normal delivery is too dangerous to happen.
Some women find the water a wonderful place to give birth. It is a bit unconventional but comfortable. Some hospitals have birthing tubs so you can have a water birth in the hospital if you wish. The water birth is known to help keep new mothers relaxed and lessen their stress levels.
